Visitors From South Africa
Tue 01 Apr 2008
Pupils from Fernwood Comprehensive School had a geography lesson at the Study Centre, when a group of sixth form students from South Africa came to visit them.
The sixth formers, from St. Nicholas Diocesan School in Pietermaritzburg, are on a three week tour to the U.K. for a School Exchange with Nottingham Bluecoat School.
The students answered questions from Fernwood pupils about their lives as borders and were taught some phrases in Afrikaans and Zulu, two of the eleven languages spoken in South Africa.
The session was very interesting and a lot of fun. You can read about their adventures on their school website. The students will also be updating their blog when they return home after Easter. They certainly were ambassadors for their school and country.
