Nottingham Forest move into second place after producing their first away win, since early December.

Forest dominated much of the first half and in spite of eight corners they were unable to convert any of their chances into goals.

Forest dominated much of the possession in the second half and were rewarded with a goal on the hour mark. For a while Orient came back into the game to make for a tense finish but Forest finished well to take all three points.

It was a lively start to the game and the Leyton Orient keeper was brought into action in the opening minute, although it was a comfortable save of Junior Agogo's shot from 20 yards out.

And Orient had a chance after 11 minutes when the ball from Stephen Purches fell to Jason Demetriou, but his shot went straight at Paul Smith.

Play was stopped due to an injury to Kelvin Wilson and it looked like he might have been unable to carry on but he was eventually able to rejoin the action.

The game settled down and it was the 19th minute before either keeper had anything to do when Stuart Nelson had a simple save when Kris Commons shot from 18 yards.

Forest put pressure on the Orient goal following a corner and Grant Holt missed a chance from four yards out when he was unable to get on the end of Commons' excellent cross.

And Commons produced another great cross, which ran right across the six-yard, box but neither Holt or Junior Agogo were unable to reach it.

There was a late flurry from Forest, with Chris Cohen shooting wide and Agogo forcing a save from Nelson, but in spite of their domination they were unable to convert this into goals in the first half.

Orient started the second half well and within two minutes Smith had made a good save from Wayne Gray's cross. And Wes Morgan did well to block another effort.

Forest created some good play when the referee played the advantage after Julian Bennett was blocked but broke free. He fed the ball to Cohen who put in a good cross which forced a quality save from Nelson.

A free kick eight minutes into the half gave Forest a real opportunity and Commons' curling ball produced another good save from Nelson, who tipped the ball over for a corner.

Forest kept up the pressure and Agogo made a good run to get a touch on Commons' cross, putting the ball across to Holt who shot straight at the Orient keeper.

Forest took the lead on the hour mark when Morgan beat two players allowing the ball to break for Agogo who hit from 20 yards out and the Orient keeper dived to his left but allowed the ball to creep inside the post.

Forest threatened again with a superb cross from Luke Chambers and Nelson had to back-pedal to put the ball out for a corner.

Morgan, having helped make Forest's goal, almost put one in at the other end when he attempted to clear the ball but instead sent it off his own post but fortunately it was then scrambled away for an Orient corner.

Ian Breckin picked up his fifth yellow card of the season for kicking the ball away so he will miss the Carlisle game.

Lewis McGugan replaced Agogo with 12 minutes of the game remaining, with Commons moving up front.

Orient looked the better side towards the end of the game with Forest struggling to keep possession.

As Forest started to look more confident again a cross by Chambers from the left found Holt but his header from 12 yards went straight to Nelson.

James Perch replaced Chambers at the start of stoppage time to take up a bit of time as Forest continued to keep possession well to give them their first away win since early December.

On the final whistle all the players and coaching staff linked arms to go and celebrate with the 2,132 travelling supporters.
