Forest Reserves Win Title
Thu 23 Aug 2007
Nottingham Forest reserves took the Pontins Holiday League Championship title for the 2006-07 season after beating Rotherham United 2-0 in the play-off final.
Nathan Tyson made his first start in a Forest shirt since going off at half time with a cruciate knee injury in the 1-1 draw against Rotherham United in April.
The game got off to a lively start, with Tyson getting in a run as early as the first minute.
Matt Thornhill started a beautiful move after ten minutes when he put Tyson through on the right and his pass across the box set Felix Bastians up for a shot which just went over.

Hamza Bencherif and Rotherham's Ryan Taylor clashed heads from a corner that resulted in Taylor being substituted after 19 minutes and Aaron Mitchell coming on for Bencherif on 31 minutes.
Emile Sinclair and Tyson were linking up well, causing considerable problems for Rotherham with their speed.
The first half came to an end with Forest still attacking the Rotherham goal but without anything to show for it.
Tyson unexpectedly came out for the second half and showed his skill when he ghosted past Simon Harrison soon after the kick off.
With ten minutes of the second half gone Bastians put in a cross, which Tyson headed past Steven Cann in the Rotherham goal, to put the Reds into the lead.
Bastians could have made it 2-0 when Sinclair burst through from the Reds half and put the ball to the Germany U20s international, but the shot went wide.
He made up for it on 68 minutes when he cut in from the left and put a low shot past Cann to make it 2-0 and give Forest the title.
