Colin Calderwood wants to see his Nottingham Forest side play with freedom against Luton at The City Ground tomorrow (kick-off 3pm).

Forest still have slim hopes of clinching automatic promotion but Calderwood believes the pressure is off his players now they are assured of a play-off spot.

Luton have already been relegated and The Reds are red hot favourites to win their penultimate home game of the League One campaign.

Calderwood told us: "We're aware of the fact that Luton could be quite dangerous opposition because they have been relegated and have nothing to play for.

"But we want to try and play with a bit of buoyancy and go and express ourselves. We've got absolutely nothing to worry about - so I would hope we can play with as much freedom as we possibly can.

"Our play-off spot is safe but we'll still go out there tomorrow with a real desire to win the game because we want to finish the season as strongly as we possibly can.

"I certainly don't want any element of self-doubt to creep in to our minds when the play-offs come around. I want us to be positive and have a good feeling among the group.

"What we are focussing on is preparing ourselves for the play-offs and what I want is good competition for places and a few problems when it comes to selecting a team."

Luton, who are managed by former Forest assistant manager and caretaker boss Mick Harford, have endured a wretched season.

They went into administration; were docked 10 points and subsequently had to sell a host of their best players in an attempt to cut costs. Their almost inevitable relegation was confirmed last Saturday with a home defeat by Brighton.

But before they were struck by their financial problems Luton twice overcame Forest, beating them 2-1 in League One and 1-0 in an FA Cup second round tie.

Calderwood added: "It's kind of strange that Luton have been relegated because when we played them earlier in the season they were contenders for promotion.

"At that stage I couldn't see many teams rolling them over but other events have taken hold of the club and they've ended up getting relegated."
