Colin Calderwood is confident of persuading Kris Commons to stay with promoted Nottingham Forest.

The 24-year-old will be a free agent when his current contract expires in June and has already been linked with a move to East Midlands rivals Derby County.

But manager Calderwood believes Commons will pledge his long-term future to The Reds as they prepare for life in the Championship.

"We want to get Kris signed up and get it done as quickly as possible," he told Forest World.

"There will be other suitors, he's entitled to speak to other clubs very shortly and the possibility is they might be of interest to him.

"But I know where his heart lies, especially in the East Midlands. He always said to me that he wanted to be in a Championship team and ideally with Nottingham Forest.

"We've given ourselves the best chance of capturing him and we'll try and tie him down very, very quickly."
