Nottingham Forest Chairman Nigel Doughty has expressed his delight at the capture of Robert Earnshaw.

The Reds have paid Derby £2.65million for the 27 year old - an ambitious move by the club as they prepare for their return to the Coca-Cola Championship after a three-year absence.

Mr Doughty, who is pictured welcoming Earnshaw to The City Ground, said: "When you look at Robert's record, in terms of goals per game, he's probably the most the successful Championship player.

"Allied with the strike force that we already have, I think it means we will be a potent goal-scoring force next season and we already know we've got a very good defence."

Earnshaw is likely to be followed through the entrance door at The City Ground by further new signings in the coming weeks as Forest strengthen ahead of their Championship return.

Mr Doughty added: "We've got our list, which is cast in stone, and none of the names that I've seen bandied about yet are on that list. We're pursuing our targets and we'd like to bring in two or three more."
