Gary Megson

Nottingham Forest Manager Gary Megson could not hide his disappointment at Forest's exit from the FA Cup at the hands of Chester City.

Of the 3-0 defeat  he said: "Today's game was an embarrassment. Chester played well, they scored from the first two shots they had but we did nothing the other way.

"Today, apart from Wes Morgan, not one player could say they were even remotely pleased with their performance. I was pleased with Wes' attitude and his enthusiasm to be a better player and this is a pointer to what I want from all the players.

"We had a lot of players missing today but this gives an opportunity for others, but they didn't take it, they played as if the performance doesn't matter, which of course it does. A lot of players aren't doing enough to justify being selected."

Of Forest's cup fortunes this season he said: "Any defeat has a dramatic effect, it certainly does at our club. The F A Cup is a competition you want to be in so it is very disappointing.

"We've lost at home to Macclesfield, we lost to Woking in the LDV and have come to Chester and lost. So it's not a one off, we are out of all the cup competitions and now we have to look to improving our league form.

The manager had praise for the supporters who have continued providing support both at home and away, saying: "I can't criticise the supporters, they deserve great credit and a great deal better than we are giving them."

Of the future he added: "Long term it will get better, how long that is is open to debate but there needs to be players coming in and players going and there needs to be a complete change in attitude."

Forest don't have long to wait to return to action as they are at home to Port Vale in just three days time. Megson said: " We will turn up on Tuesday, the team will change as we will have other players available and hopefully the attitude and the result will change."
