But Warnock, speaking after Saturday's 1-1 friendly with Leicester, said: "I saw he's been sold today - I thought somebody might have told me!"

Coventry manager Chris Coleman has insisted that Leon Best is not for sale amid speculation that Championship rivals Nottingham Forest have renewed their interest in the forward.
Nottingham-born Best handed in a transfer request last season when his hometown club approached the Sky Blues with an offer to sign the 21-year-old.
Coleman is adamant that Best is part of his plans for the forthcoming season and that his future remains at the Ricoh Arena.
"He has got so much ability and Leon is certainly not someone that we are looking to sell," Coleman told BBC Radio Warwickshire.
"We are looking to build a team with good players. Leon certainly fits into that, he has looked excellent in pre-season."

Warnock unaware of Forest interest

CRYSTAL Palace manager Neil Warnock says he is unaware of Nottingham Forest making a move for wantaway midfielder Ben Watson.
The former England U21 international was left out of Wednesday night's 4-1 win at Bodmin after new approaches from QPR and Birmingham.
But Warnock admitted to being puzzled at national press reports on Thursday morning that stated Championship new boys Forest had joined the chase.
He told the South London Press: "I haven't heard anything about Forest.
"I pulled him out last nightbecause we had a couple of enquiries yesterday from Birmingham and QPR again, so I didn't risk him last night."
Despite suggestions that QPR - believed to be Watson's preferred destination as he eyes the Selhurst Park exit door - have upped their offer to £1.75million, the South London Press understands their best bid so far is under half that amount.

TRIGGER IN PLACE

Following continued speculation, Carlisle United is today issuing a statement explaining that they would have no alternative but to sell Joe Garner once they have been offered £1.14 million for him.

Carlisle United's chief executive David Allen, who is one of the club's four new owners, said: "We have always wanted to keep Joe. He is extremely popular with our fans and everyone at the club. Of course, he is also a great young player with tremendous potential who is working extremely hard to recover from a very serious injury, which is likely to sideline him for several more months. But there is nothing we can do to stop Nottingham Forest, or any other club for that matter, speaking to Joe once they have reached the £1.14 million trigger. Our relationships with Forest and with Joe remain good but I would like to stress that it was not Carlisle United who informed Forest of the £1.14 million trigger. As I say, we have always wanted to keep Joe as a Carlisle United player and we are mindful that he still has two years to run on his contract with us."
