Luke will be aiming to establish himself as a fixture on the first team stage in his first full season at The City Ground.
He ended last term as one of the men in possession of a central defensive berth but knows he faces even tougher competition this term following the close season arrival of Kelvin Wilson and the return to fitness of Wes Morgan.
Colin Calderwood raided his former club Northampton to land Chambers during the January '07 transfer window.
Forest paid an undisclosed fee for a player who made his debut for Northampton as a 17-year-old and made such impressive progress that he was eventually handed the captain's armband.
Chambers made more than 120 appearances for The Cobblers and was a key figure as they secured automatic promotion from League Two in 2006.
